Product catalog summary
Specifications
The Series 820 Direct Acting Steam Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) features a diaphragm chamber made from grey iron, ductile iron, or steel, available in standard sizes of 6", 8", 10", and 15". The bonnet supports the diaphragm and guides the valve spring, which is heat-treated and color-coded for optimal response and calibration range. A Teflon gasket ensures smooth stem movement and zero leakage. The metal disc and seat are made of stainless steel for optimal sealing and erosion resistance. The body is forged from iron or steel, with optional flanged connections.

General Information
The models 821, 822, and 823 are available in sizes from 1" to 3" with various connection types and body materials. The maximum inlet pressure ranges from 250 to 300 PSI, and the maximum temperature ranges from 120°F to 350°F.

Main Advantages
The valve offers a compact, durable design suitable for high flow requirements, with a range of sizes based on sensitivity needs. It is serviceable in-line and undergoes rigorous quality assurance testing, including metalography, spectrometry, and hydrostatic and leakage testing. Complete product traceability is maintained.

Operating Principle
The valve operates by regulating inlet pressure (P1) to outlet pressure (P2) through the positioning of a metal disc on the seat. The valve adjusts for zero flow, maximum flow, and modulating flow conditions by varying the spring force and diaphragm chamber size.

Sizing and Capacity
Valve capacity is determined by the Cv value, which indicates the flow capacity. The valve's capacity increases as regulated pressure decreases. Critical and subcritical flow conditions are defined by the relationship between P1 and P2.

Installation and Selection
The installation involves selecting the appropriate chamber and spring based on inlet and regulated pressures. The product ID reference guide provides detailed information on chamber and spring selection for various valve sizes.

Contact Information
Tecval's main office is located in Bogotá, with service centers in Cali and Costa. Contact details are provided for each location.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE Steam passes through pilot line until it reaches actuation chamber were it condenses, filling the chamber and pilot line up to siphon, thus outlet pressure (P2) is communicated to diaphragm. Actuation chamber Inlet pressure (P1) is regulated to outlet pressure (P2) by positioning metal disc to seat depending on required demand. FOR CERO FLOW When outlet pressure (P2) is at its maximum, spring compresses forcing metal disc descent until complete seal is achieved. Pilot line Spring force Needle valve FOR MAXIMUN FLOW When outlet pressure (P2) is at its minimum, force of spring...

Series 820 Direct Acting With the use of the following formulas, and using the Cv value as input, valve capacity for steam can be calculated: CRITICAL FLOW SUBCRITICAL FLOW In these conditions flow is throttled and outlet pressure (P2) does not affect flow. When outlet pressure (P2) increases, flow reduces and when outlet pressure (P2) decreases flow increases. Capacity "W" is defined as: Wmax. = Cv (P + 14,7) 0.547 PRODUCT ID REFERENCE GUIDE Body material Green V Black N INSTALLATION Pressure gauge (P2) 820 series regulator valve Safety relief valve steam trap
