Product catalog summary

Overview

This document provides detailed technical information on Tecnifuelle standard spirals, which are protective spiral covers designed to safeguard mechanical components such as spindles or shafts. The spirals are primarily made from special spring steel, with stainless steel available upon request.

Construction and Characteristics

  • Manufactured from spring steel; stainless steel option available.
  • Designed to reduce accident risks and mechanical damage.
  • Adaptable to minimal space requirements.
  • Simple assembly process with options for vertical and horizontal installation.
  • Provides guaranteed protection against dirt and chips.

Assembly Positions and Combinations

Spirals can be installed singly or in combination (two spirals fitted together). For combined assemblies, consultation with the manufacturer is recommended. Typically, the spiral with the larger diameter is installed on top in vertical assemblies. In horizontal assemblies, the larger diameter spiral should be positioned where the majority of chips fall for optimal protection.

Assembly Instructions

  • Spirals are delivered in a compressed (closed) state, held by fastening wires which must not be released before fitting under pressure.
  • Spirals marked with “H” are exclusively for horizontal use and have a travel reduced by one-third to enhance stability.
  • Spirals require oiling before initial operation and begin functioning normally after approximately 20 movements.

Technical Definitions and Parameters

  • d: Diameter of the spindle or shaft.
  • D1: Minimum inside diameter of the spiral.
  • D2: Maximum outside diameter of the spiral.
  • ZD: Compressed length of the spiral.
  • AZ: Maximum length of the spiral.
  • AX: Maximum travel length.

Measurements for diameters and compressed length should be referenced from the spiral program tables provided.

Flange Design and Specifications

Flanges can be either turned or welded. The inside diameter must allow free rotation of the spiral. Flange height (h) should be between two-thirds of the compressed length (ZD) and ZD minus 2 mm.

  • For flange type 2: Diameter c2 = D2 + 6 mm; height h between 2/3 ZD and ZD - 2 mm.
  • For flange type 1: Diameter a = D1 - 4 mm; diameter c1 = D2 + 1 mm; height h between 2/3 ZD and ZD - 2 mm.

Spiral Program and Specifications Tables

The document includes extensive tabulated data listing spiral types with corresponding parameters such as maximum travel (vertical and horizontal), inside and outside diameters (D1 and D2), compressed length (ZD), and maximum length (AZ). These tables cover a wide range of spiral sizes and configurations, enabling selection based on specific application requirements.

Key points from the tables include:

  • Type numbers correspond to specific spiral dimensions and travel capabilities.
  • Vertical spirals generally allow greater travel than horizontal spirals due to stability considerations.
  • Compressed lengths and diameters are specified with tolerances to ensure proper fit and function.

Best Practices and Recommendations

  • Always fit spirals in the closed position and under pressure before releasing fastening wires.
  • Use oiling prior to initial operation to ensure smooth function.
  • Consult the manufacturer when combining spirals or using non-standard flange designs.
  • Position larger diameter spirals where chip accumulation is greatest for optimal protection.

Summary

The Tecnifuelle spirals are robust, adaptable protective covers designed to shield mechanical components from dirt, chips, and mechanical damage. Their construction, assembly options, and detailed specifications allow for tailored solutions in various industrial applications. Proper installation and maintenance are critical to ensure longevity and performance.
