CableTEC – Corona Treatment of Cables

CableTEC – Corona Treatment of Cables

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the surface treatment of polymer-based materials to enhance surface wettability and adhesion properties through electrical discharge, specifically using corona treatment. This process is essential for improving the adhesion of inks, glues, and coatings on polymer substrates.

CableTEC Corona Treaters
The CableTEC system is designed for modifying polymer cable insulations such as PE, PP, and PTFE. It optimizes adhesion properties for printing inks and coatings on cables. The system is suitable for integration into new or existing production lines and includes components like a high-frequency generator, high voltage transformer, air-cooled electrodes, ozone filter, and a customizable treating station. It complies with CE regulations and carries the CE-marking.

Technical Features
  • 360° non-contact treatment for cables, tubes, and profiles.
  • Fully shielded treating station with zero-speed control.
  • Integrated watt-density control for high-speed treatment.
  • Capable of treating hard-to-treat materials.

Product Information
The CableTEC system is harmless to products and can treat diameters from 0.5 to 8 mm, with other sizes available upon request. It ensures uniform treatment at varying line speeds, up to 600 m/min, depending on the insulating material. It is effective for materials like Teflon and cross-linked polymers.

Technical Specifications
  • Mains voltage and frequency: 230 VAC 50/60 Hz.
  • Output voltage: 2 x 13 Kv/max. 2000 Watt.
  • Power supply: HV-X generator series.
  • Line-speed: Max. 600 m/min.
  • Treatable materials: PP, PE, and others.
  • System type: Tabletop for full integration.
  • Exhaust: Ozone filter system.
  • Regulation compliance: CE – RoHs – WEEE.

CableTEC – Corona Treatment of Cables-1

ProductInformation CableTEC – Corona Treatment of Cables TECHNICAL DATA CableTEC Standard and Customised CoronaTreaters The purpose of surface treatment of polymer based materials is to increase surface wettability through electrical discharge. The low surface energy of polymer based substrates often leads to poor adhesion of inks, glues and coatings. To obtain optimum adhesion, it is necessary to increase the surface energy of the substrate to just above that of the material to be applied. Surface treatment with corona results in improved surface adhesion properties. The CableTEC is a unique and cost effective method for modifying polymer cable insulations (PE, PP, and PTFE), resulting in adhesion property optimization of printing inks and coatings onto the cable. The in-line treating system has been specifically designed by Tantec to facilitate easy installation to new or existing production lines. A complete system includes; high frequency generator, high voltage transformer, air-cooled electrodes, ozone filter and a customized stand alone or bench-top treating station. CableTEC conforms to CE regulations and carries the CE-marking.
