Engineered for Quality and Reliability MODEL 5770 Taber Linear Abraser ® Engineered to test either contoured or flat surfaces, the Linear Abraser is ideal to evaluate finished products of various sizes. Attached to the end of the arm is a precision bearing spline shaft that creates a ‘free-floating’ test system and permits vertical movement. The test attachment is affixed to the bottom of the spline shaft and a weight support is mounted to the top to allow for different applied loads. As the horizontal arm reciprocates back and forth in a linear motion, the test system raises or lowers vertically as the test attachment follows the contours of the specimen. To expand the versatility of this instrument, the Linear Abraser can be configured with optional test attachments to evaluate the relative resistance of a material’s surface to damage such as wear and abrasion, scratch, gouge, scrape, rub, crocking, plus others. The Linear Abraser can be used for both wet and dry testing.
