This document details the specifications, configurations, and application guidelines for the CB N ... S series of single nozzles with valve gate technology, designed for hot runner systems in injection molding.

Product Description

• Series: CB N ... S
• Nozzle Type: Single nozzle, valve gate
• Nozzle Size: Flow bore diameter of 7 mm
• Nozzle Tips: Screw-in parts allowing different tip shapes and gating types (open, open with torpedo, valve gate)
• Heating: Externally heated with 230 V AC, Fe/CuNi thermocouple (DIN 43710), 2-3 heating zones with power ranging from 750 to 1000 W
• Application: Suitable for all usual thermoplastics with a maximum shot weight per nozzle of 80 g for low viscosity materials

Technical Specifications

• Temperature Limits: Nozzle can be used up to 80°C mold temperature without direct cooling; above this, cooling units are required

Nozzle Tip Variants and Gating Types

The nozzle tips come in various shapes identified by letters (Y, V, W, X), each designed for specific gating and process windows:

• Y Tip: Valve gate, suitable for materials with narrow to medium process windows
• V Tip: Valve gate, similar application as Y tip
• W Tip: Valve gate, with specific dimensional tolerances and cooling requirements
• X Tip: Valve gate, designed for materials with medium to wide process windows

Dimensional Data and Length Codes

The nozzles are available in various lengths, identified by length codes (e.g., 033, 043, ..., 246), with corresponding dimensions for length (L), head height (H), and heating zone power ratings. Length codes correspond either to specific lengths or ranges depending on the nozzle series.

Installation and Mounting

• Cut-outs in the mold plate are specified for the nozzle body, connections, locking pin groove, and nozzle tip.
• The locking pin prevents nozzle rotation during operation.
• The front of the nozzle tip must always be in contact with the plastic melt.

Heating and Power

• Heating zones are numbered from the nozzle tip to the head.
• Power ratings per heating zone vary between 180 W to 1000 W depending on nozzle length and type.

Standards and Tolerances

• General tolerances conform to DIN ISO 2768-mK.
• Surface finishes and shape tolerances are specified to ensure proper fit and function.
