Product catalog summary
Overview: The document details the features and advantages of SwissChuck's OVEKA & KA compensating chucks, designed for grinding complex shaft-type components. These chucks are particularly suited for crankshaft machining and have been improved over time to accommodate various shaft-type workpieces.
Specifications: The chucks are available in hydraulically or drawbar actuated versions, with 2, 3, or 4-jaw options. They are engineered for grinding machines and feature a patented circulating lubrication system (EP1 190 815) for low maintenance and high durability.
Advantages: Key benefits include a highly sensitive compensation mechanism, hermetic sealing against contamination, and minimal lifecycle costs due to the maintenance-free design. The chucks ensure high roundness and concentricity accuracy, making them ideal for high-volume production.
Applications: Examples include clamping gear shafts, ball screw shafts, camshafts, CVT gearbox shafts, Capto tool holders, and crankshafts. Each application highlights the chuck's ability to maintain precision and stability during grinding processes.
Accessories: SwissChuck offers top jaws and center points tailored to specific workpieces, enhancing torque transmission and clamping force. Special solutions are available for customized requirements.
Mounting and Operation: The chucks are mounted according to machine type, with SwissChuck providing all necessary components for installation. The document also describes the hydraulic and mechanical connections required for operation.

COMPENSATING CHUCKS For centric cylindrical, orbital pin or form grinding of complex shaft-type components, the workpiece is generally ground between centers. The challenge faced by the workholding device is to transfer the necessary torque, and thus the rotational movement to the workpiece, without deforming it by excessive lateral loads. SwissChuck’s high-precision OVEKA/KA compensating chucks have been originally designed for the machining of crankshafts, a task for which they have amply proven themselves. Over the years, these chucks have undergone continuous improvements such that today,...

TOP JAWS The top jaws are designed workpiece specific by SwissChuck. In this way, the clamping function of the chuck will be perfectly transferred to the workpiece. The generally hardened jaws can be given an additional PVD coating at the clamping contact locations. This permits an even higher transmission of torque, or alternatively, the clamping force for sensitive workpieces can be reduced. CENTER POINTS As a rule, the wear-resistant center points are fitted with tungsten carbide inserts. The conical or spherical centers are designed and produced according to requirements. Some chucks are...
