Product catalog summary
Overview: This document provides detailed information on Sutton Tools' carbide burs, focusing on their specifications, applications, and usage recommendations. It includes product descriptions, cutting speeds, safety tips, and hints for optimal use.
Specifications:
  • Double Cut Burs: Designed for rapid stock removal in harder materials. The chisel tooth pattern minimizes tool chatter and reduces chips to a granular shape, improving tool control and reducing flute loading.
  • Aluminium Cut Burs: Recommended for rapid material removal of soft materials like aluminium, brass, copper, and plastics. The deep flute structure prevents bur loading.
  • Material: VHM (Carbide)
  • Surface Finish: Bright (Brt)
  • Application: Steel and Aluminium
  • Geometry: Double Cut and Aluminium Cut
Product Range:
  • Various shapes including Cylindrical Square End, Cylindrical Radius End, Ball Shape, Oval Shape, Tree Shape (Radius and Pointed End), Flame Shape, Taper Shape, Cone Shape, and Inverted Cone Shape.
  • Each shape is available in different sizes and specifications, with specific item codes for ordering.
Recommended Cutting Speeds:
  • Speeds vary based on material and bur diameter, with specific RPMs provided for steels, alloys, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and aluminium.
  • Note: Reduce speeds by 50% when using long shank carbide burs.
Safety Tips:
  • Always wear eye protection during bur application.
  • Use in air and electric die grinders, not conventional electric drills.
  • Ensure the bur is chucked to the full capacity of the machine chuck.
  • Avoid using driving tools with worn bearings.
Hints for Use:
  • Position the bur close to the head of the collet.
  • Allow the tool to cut without excessive pressure.
  • Ensure the tool is at full speed before contacting the workpiece.
  • To prevent loading on aluminium burs, coat with beeswax or oven cleaner before use.
  • If sparks are evident, the bur may be dull or the material too hard.

Double Cut The double cut bur allows for rapid stock removal in the harder materials. The chisel tooth pattern not only minimises tool chatter but reduces the chip to a granular shape, in most materials, thereby reducing or eliminating the sharp sliver chips that are normally experienced. This chip reduction also helps eliminate loading of the flutes. An improvement in tool control will be realised as the double cut tends to reduce the pulling action of the main flute pattern. Although some finish reduction may be experienced, improvement in material removal and, therefore, increased production will be realised. Aluminium Cut This flute pattern is recommended for rapid material removal of aluminium or other soft materials such as brass, copper and plastics that would normally load other cuts. The extra deep flute structure should eliminate bur loading. Carbide burs
