GKN Stromag Periflex® Disc Coupling Instructions for the designer The GKN Stromag Periflex® VN coupling hubs are of steel or ductile cast iron. The connection ring is of aluminium. The disc tyres consist of a steel or ductile cast iron V ring with a lining of vulcanised elastomer. The variants of natural rubber (NR) can be used at temperatures of ‑50 °C to +80 °C. The variants of temperature resistant material (ECO) can be used at temperatures of -40 °C to +120 °C. In addition, ECO is resistant to ozone and oil. GKN Stromag Periflex® Disc Coupling Fail-safe device The Stromag Periflex® VN coupling is available with an fail-safe device. A rupture in the flexible element causes claws to intermesh, forming a torsionally rigid, backlash connection between the drive and output sides. GKN Stromag Periflex® Disc Coupling Installation instructions and scope of delivery The GKN Stromag Periflex® VN coupling is fitted with a connection ring (1) that allows it to be bolted directly to the engine’s flywheel. The hub (3) of the disc tyre (2) is secured to the machine with bolts (4).
