Into this shipyard, the winch as the function to pull outside from the river the boats they will work on by a slipway system. The main concern is to replace two winches from the World War 2 by a single and more ergonomic/technologic winch. In this use, the winch allows to bring the ships outside of the water to working on, to repair and refurbish the ships and driving them back to the river. challenge The two anchorage points are back and front side, so they are not working the same way and they still should have the same move, the same speed and moving on simultaneously along the slipway rails. Safety wise and due to the possibility of people being around the slipways, the concern was to working safely. Indeed the conception of this winch is safer thanks to a locking dog devise in case of gearbox and/or brake failure. starter solution Starter solution is about a single winch, operating on with 2 drums having their own steel rope. According to the “sheave block systems” increasing the weight able to be hoist and the different speed that is regulated by a frequency invertor to work perfectly simultaneously. resultAT The double drum winch is working perfectly and take off from the water hundreds of boats every year. This is one of the most important equipment on this shipyard. Also the full winch park of this firm is being replaced by Starter.
