Plug Gauges

Product catalog summary
Overview of Ball Plug Gauges:
  • Ball Plug Gauges offer significant advantages over conventional Plug Gauges, including ease of use and the ability to be inserted at any angle.
  • The small contact area of the ball provides excellent tactile feedback, allowing inspectors to easily detect surface roughness.
  • These gauges are effective in identifying bell mouthing or tapering in holes.
  • Tungsten Carbide Balls are used for their durability against impact, wear, temperature, humidity, and corrosion.
  • Standard tolerances are +2.0µm on the "Go" end and -2.0µm on the "No Go" end, with tighter tolerances available at an additional cost.
  • The Spheric-Trafalgar UKAS Laboratory offers full certification, and handles can be customized with engravings such as part numbers.
  • All stems are constructed from high-quality stainless steel.
Construction Details:
  • For ball sizes 5/32" (4mm) and above, the stem is inserted into a spark-eroded hole in the ball and secured with a specialized adhesive.
  • For sizes below 5/32" (4mm), the balls are brazed to the stems.
Tolerance Options:
  • Metric Options:

They are quick and easy to use because they can be inserted at any angle. Due to the very small contact area of the ball, very good "feel" is imparted to the inspector and any roughness is easily detected. They are very effective in detecting any bell mouthing or taper in the hole. Tungsten Carbide Balls offer rugged resistance to impact, wear, temperature, humididty and corrosion. Our standard tolerances are +2.0m (0.00008") on the "Go" end and -2.0յm (0.00008") on the "No Go" end. However tighter tolerances are available at extra cost.
