Has also been adapted for mechanical alloying. Vials Vials for grinding typically have an internal volume of 50 to 60 ml with a grinding capacity of up to 25 ml and a powder blending capacity of up to 50 ml. They are available in tool steel, stainless steel, tungsten carbide, alumina ceramic, zirconia ceramic, silicon nitride and agate. Plastic vials and balls are also available for making emulsions and blending powders. The largest plastic vial has an internal volume of 135 ml. Controls New LCD membrane control panel reduces dust contamination. The electronic timer of the 8000M Mixer/Mill displays the programmed running time; while the mill is operating, the timer also counts down the amount of time left in the run. Membrane controls include start, stop, and pause functions as well as timing programming. The timer is factory-set for a maximum of 100 minutes, but this may be extended to 1000 minutes for special applications such as mechanical alloying. Safety Features The 8000M Mixer/Mill is equipped with a safety interlock so that it cannot be operated with the lid open. Each clamp has a lock nut to prevent it from loosening while the mill is running. The motor is also equipped with a thermal overload protector. The 8000M Mixer/Mill meets European CE directives. Maintenance The 8000M Mixer/Mill is nearly maintenance-free. All ring bearings in the motor and clamps are sealed for years of operation, and the drive belt is extremely durable and should rarely need adjustment.
