It should be noted that using a power supply of a higher power rating will not deliver more energy into the sample. Rather, it is the resistance to the movement of the probe that will determine how much power will be delivered. Negligible power is required to keep a probe vibrating in air. As the probe is immersed in a liquid and the resistance to its movement increases, a feedback network senses the change in power requirements, and causes the electrical power drawn from the power supply to increase automatically and proportionally in order to keep the amplitude at the probe tip constant....
