Integrated Optical Distribution Unit (iODU)
The Integrated Optical Distribution Unit (iODU) is a component of the ALLIANCE Multi-Carrier Distributed Antenna System (DAS) designed to convert RF signals to optical signals and vice versa. It supports single-mode, SC-APC connections and features a compact 1RU form factor suitable for 19-inch rack mounting. The iODU is modular, supporting up to 8 optical ports, and offers a link budget of 5 or 10 dBo to Remote Optic Units (ROUs) or Optic Expansion Units (OEUs).
The iODU receives downlink RF signals from the integrated BTS Interface Unit (iBIU), converts them to optical signals, and transmits them to ROUs or OEUs via fiber optic cables. The process is reversed for uplink signals. The iODU is co-located with the iBIU, receiving power and RF communication through coax and power cables. It includes a fan unit for heat dissipation, allowing multiple units to be stacked to save rack space.

The integrated Optical Distribution Unit (iODU) receives downlink RF signals from the integrated BTS Interface Unit (iBIU), converts the RF signals to optical, then sends the signal to the remote optic units (ROUs) or to the Optic Expansion Unit (OEU or iOEU) via fiber optic cabling. This process is reversed for the uplink path. The iODU is typically co-located with the BTS Interface Unit (iBIU) from which it receives power and RF communication via two coax cables and a power cable. The iODU is equipped with a fan unit for improved heat dissipation.
