Product catalog summary
Typical Application Fields:
  • Food & Beverage: cheese, yeast, sauces
  • Printing: inks, varnishes
  • Packaging: cardboards, glues, inks
  • Coating: paints, lacquers
  • Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics: detergents, skin care
8004 Viscosity Display and Controller:

The Sofraser 8004 is designed for instant viscosity measurement and continuous control. It processes amplitude variations from the MIVI viscometer to provide a linear viscosity response. Key features include a digital display, control loop, and both analog and digital outputs.

  • Sequential Product Contribution: Maintains constant viscosity for inks and other products.
  • Regulation: Options include all or nothing, all or little or nothing, and PID control loops.
  • Data Processing and Regulation Module: Flush-type (1/8 DIN format).
  • Calibration: Factory programmed with 20 possible segments.
  • Status Display: Programmable threshold and hysteresis.
Standard Features and Specifications:
  • Inputs: Viscosity and temperature (Pt100 probe).
  • Outputs: Independent and insulated outputs for viscosity and temperature with one analog output and two relay outputs.
  • Resolution: 0.1% of full scale range.
  • Operating Conditions: Working temperature from 0 to 50°C, process temperature from -20°C to 100°C, sensor thermal drift correction up to 100°C, and watertightness with front panel IPI and back panel IP20.
  • Display: Permanent 4-digit viscosity display and set point/control output display with 5 status LEDs.
  • Dimensions & Characteristics: 92 mm x 45 mm, total depth 120 mm, weight 280 g, panel mounting (1/8 DIN format).
  • Power Input: 85 to 265 VAC/DC.
  • Certification: CE marked.
Options:
  • Serial port options: RS232 or RS485.
  • Additional analog output options.
  • Insertion in a watertight box (IP65).
Service Options:
  • Calibration certificate with standard Newtonian products.
  • Temperature correction through linearization of viscosity signal.
  • Calibration table or curve plot from certified viscosity standard oils.
  • Calibration and report at multiple viscosity points.
  • Programmed temperature compensation table.
Background:

In 1981, Sofraser invented and patented the first vibrating viscometer at resonance frequency, known for its process reliability and accuracy. The sensor's active part, a vibrating rod, varies its amplitude based on the viscosity of the product it is immersed in.
