series EcoFlex/PowerFlex automatic turret unwinders The SML turret unwinder family consists of two different types of unwinders. The PowerFlex types are designed for extra wide applications and high speeds up to 600 m/min. Due to the massive construction they can absorb vibrations very effectively. The EcoFlex unwinders give you a maximum of flexibility at a reasonable price level and speeds up to 320 m/min. Each unwinder has its own PLC-system with a touch screen operating panel, which makes it easy to fit them also into an existing production line. Settings for different kind of materials can be stored in recipes for quick and unproblematic product changeovers. Tension control is very sensitive due to the speed control loop with an integrated ultra-light carbon fiber composite dancer roller. The new bobbin has to be prepared with double sided adhesive tape. During the change over sequence the new bobbin is synchronized to line speed. The joining with the active web and cross cutting will be done at production speed. Chucking heads mounted on motorized moveable side frames make it easy to work with different core widths. The basic versions have one cutting system for a roll change of a counter clockwise rotating bobbin. Additionally a second cutting system can be added to give you the advantage of bi-directional unwinding. The EcoFlex unwinders are built as a modular construction system and due to this they require a minimum of hall space at a maximum of possible features. The optional constant gap unwinding roller gives you the advantage to unwind aluminium foil at a minimum thickness of down to 6,35µm. If higher web tensions outside the unwinder are required, an additional take off unit can be added at the outlet. The motorized side frames in the turret in combination with an optional edge detecting support can be used as web guiding unit. For more simple applications SML can also offer simple semi-automatic unwinders but SML can also offer specific solutions especially developed for your demands.
