CAST FILM LINES CPP EXTRUSION SML lines – brilliant CPP film for perfect product presentation Cast polypropylene film (CPP) forms the basis for a variety of packaging applications. It must possess excellent sealability and transparency for subsequent printing or lamination, as well as minimal gauge variation and a low gel level for metallising. CPP films are used for bags and pouches, general and textile packaging, candy wrappings, food packaging, antifog and peelable structures. CPP film is also employed for stationery products and protection films. Metallised CPP film for lamination accounts for high volume use. CPP lines are built for wider web width. Typical production speeds are between 200 and 350 m/min. For the inline recycling of edge trim fluff, SML utilises vertical scraptruders with forced feeding. This process avoids thermal degradation of the material as it is not undergoing an additional melt phase during recycling. Especially large area melt-filtering systems such as leaf disk and candle filters are integrated, in order to enable the removal of gels. This is particularly important for the anufacture of products such as protection film or high end metallisable film. All these components ensure consistent high melt quality for perfect film properties. The winding of CPP film is an especially demanding task. Post-crystallisation of the materials requires low winding tension and the film is also very slippery due to migrating additives. SML uses special, ultralight carbon fibre contact rollers on its winders, which have optimised rubber coatings that minimise air induction. Therefore, even at high winding speeds of 300 m/min and above, the hardness of wound film rolls can be controlled precisely. From the comprehensive SML winder programme, series W1050/W1100/W1200 and W2000 winders are especially suitable for the winding of CPP films. AUSTRIA - EUROPE
