Simmerring B1.../SL

Product catalog summary
Product Description: The Simmerring B1.../SL series are standard types with an open outer metal sleeve, available with or without a dust lip (SL) for protection against external contamination. These seals are designed for a broad range of industrial applications.
Product Advantages: The metal housing ensures firm and precise seating in the bore, although it offers limited static sealing for low viscosity and gaseous media. The additional dust lip provides extra sealing against moderate to medium dust and dirt ingress, though it may cause temperature increases due to frictional heat.
Product Properties: The outer casing is made of machined metal, with a spring-loaded sealing lip and an additional dust lip for the B1...SL models. The sealing lip profile is machined on the front face, with finished sealing lips for B1FUD/B1FUDSL models. These are suitable for axles in agricultural and construction machinery, as well as power take-off gears in machinery transmissions and axles.
Material: The primary material is Acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (72 NBR 902), with a hardness of 72 Shore A and a blue color. Other materials like 75 FKM 585 and 75 FKM 595 are available on request. The metal insert is made from unalloyed steel (DIN EN 10027-1) and the spring from spring steel (DIN EN 10270-1).
Operating Conditions: Suitable for use with mineral oils, synthetic oils, and greases, with an operating temperature range of -40 to +100°C, and short-term up to +120°C. The permissible circumferential speed varies based on the material, with a maximum of 8 m/s for Simmerrings with a dust lip.
Fitting & Installation: Proper fitting according to DIN 3760 is essential for optimal seal function. Key parameters include tolerance (ISO h 11), runout (IT 8), and roughness (Ra = 0.2 to 0.8 µm). The shaft hardness should be between 45 to 60 HRC, with a no-lead finish, preferably plunge ground.
Dimensions: The Simmerring B1 series accommodates shaft diameters from 5 to 500 mm, while the B1...SL series is suitable for diameters from 12 to 290 mm. The housing bore's metal outer surface roughness should be Rz = 6.3 to 16 µm.
