Overview of the Disintegrator 2500 Process:
Stage 1: Initial disintegration of materials occurs as they are drawn into the workhead, where they are discharged horizontally and forced up the vessel walls, creating a cycle that reduces solids to granular size.
Stage 2: The self-pumping Silverson In-Line mixer processes the granular solids, ensuring complete solution or suspension by drawing the product from the vessel's bottom and passing it back to the top.
Stage 3: Samples can be taken at any time. Once solids are dissolved or suspended, additives or solvents can be introduced to standardize the product. The vessel is emptied through the mixer or a separate outlet after quality control.
Advantages of the Disintegrator 2500:
  • Handles various product sizes and shapes, including large polymer bales, without pre-grinding.
  • Reduces maintenance costs and dust emissions by eliminating additional equipment.
  • Ensures complete solution or suspension without residue on vessel walls.
  • Processes poly-wrapped bales without removing wrappers, reducing waste.
Typical Applications:
  • Rapid solution of rubbers and polymers for lubricating oils, adhesives, and road surfacing materials.
  • Dispersion of filter cakes and disintegration of solid food blocks and animal/vegetable matter.
  • Wet crumbing of waste rubber and recovery of waste confectionery.

How the Silverson works The advantages of Silverson’s high shear rotor/stator mixer over simple conventional stirrers or agitators stem from the multistage mixing/shearing action as materials are drawn through the specially designed Silverson workhead - the heart of every machine. Stage 1 The high-speed rotation of the rotor blades within the precision machined mixing workhead exerts a powerful suction, drawing liquid and solid materials upwards from the bottom of the vessel and into the center of the workhead. Stage 2 Centrifugal force then drives materials towards the periphery of the workhead...

Mixing assemblies Duplex assembly The Duplex comprises two workheads facing in opposite directions. The upper head pulls materials down from the surface of the mix, and provides a coarse disintegrating action, while the lower head draws material up from the base of the mixing container, further reducing particle size to accelerate solubilization or suspension. This combined use of two workheads makes the Duplex ideal for high viscosity mixes and applications where light or buoyant material (powders, rubbers and polymers, etc.) needs to be drawn down from the surface of a mix and rapidly dispersed....
