Product catalog summary
Overview
Silverson has been a leader in high shear mixer manufacturing for over 75 years, serving industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and petrochemicals. Their mixers are renowned for significantly reducing process times and offering versatility in applications like blending, emulsifying, disintegrating, and particle size reduction.
Mixing Technology
The Silverson mixing process involves a multistage action where materials are drawn into a workhead, subjected to milling and hydraulic shear, and expelled to create a circulation pattern that minimizes aeration. This is facilitated by interchangeable workheads and screens for various mixing operations.
Laboratory Mixers
The L5 Series mixers are designed for laboratory work, offering capacities from 1ml to 12 liters, with features like digital tachometers and programmable timers. The L5M-A model includes a powerful motor and data logging capabilities for process validation.
Pilot Scale Mixers
The AX Series is suitable for small-scale production with capacities up to 50 liters. Models like the AX5 and AX3 offer features such as touch pad controls and variable speed options.
Specialized Mixers
Silverson offers specialized mixers like the Verso, a bench-top in-line mixer for laboratory or pilot scale applications, and the FMX5, a powder/liquid mixer for handling higher viscosity mixes. These mixers provide accurate scaling up to production levels.
Technical Specifications
Silverson mixers are constructed with 316L stainless steel and offer various motor and sealing options. They are designed to operate at pressures up to 150 psi and feature single or multistage workheads.
Service and Support
Silverson provides extensive test facilities and technical support to help clients identify the most suitable mixer for their needs, ensuring efficient and economical solutions.
Testing Facilities
Silverson provides dedicated test facilities equipped with a variety of laboratory and production scale machines. Customers can test new products and discuss applications with technical staff. On-site trials with Silverson mixers are also available for evaluation under actual production conditions.
Customisation
Silverson offers custom-designed mixers to meet the specific needs of process manufacturers, demonstrating a flexible and positive approach to equipment design.
Worldwide Support
Silverson operates internationally with a network of associated companies, distributors, and agents in over 50 countries, covering Europe, North America, Asia, Australasia, South America, and Africa.
Installation
Expert advice and assistance with installation and start-up are available from Silverson, ensuring smooth integration of their equipment.
After-sales Service
With over 75 years of experience, Silverson emphasizes reliable and rapid back-up service. A large stock of manufactured parts allows for same-day dispatch of most standard spares.

Why Silverson? Speed The exceptionally rapid Silverson mixing action substantially reduces process times compared with conventional agitators and mixers and can reduce mixing times by up to 90%. Versatility The advantage of the Silverson approach to mixing is that any one machine can perform the duties that in the past may have required several different pieces of process equipment. This unrivalled versatility allows any machine to perform the widest range of mixing applications: -  Blending - A homogeneous product is rapidly produced when blending liquids of similar or greatly varying viscosities,...

How the Silverson Works The advantages of Silverson’s high shear rotor/stator mixer over simple conventional stirrers or agitators stem from the multistage mixing/shearing action as materials are drawn through the specially designed Silverson workhead - the heart of every machine. The high-speed rotation of the rotor blades within the precisionmachined mixing workhead exerts a powerful suction, drawing liquid and solid materials upwards from the bottom of the vessel and into the centre of the workhead. Centrifugal force then drives the materials towards the periphery of the workhead where they...

Laboratory Mixers In-Line Mixing Assembly The In-Line assembly fits onto the model L5 Series Laboratory range and converts it into an In-Line mixer/homogeniser. The centrifugal action of the rotor in the high shear rotor/stator workhead generates a non-positive pumping action which gives a throughput on low viscosity liquids of approximately 20 litres/ minute, reducing as the viscosity increases. The In-Line assembly is suitable for use at atmospheric pressure only. It is not recommended for use on abrasive, corrosive or flammable materials. Specialised Mixers Model L2/Air (Compressed Air) Suitable...
