Product catalog summary
Product Overview
Sikaflex®-521 UV is a one-component, moisture-curing sealant based on Sika Silane Terminated Polymer (STP) technology. It forms a durable elastomer upon curing and is manufactured under ISO 9001/14001 standards.

Technical Specifications
  • Chemical Base: Silane Terminated Polymer
  • Colors: White, grey, black
  • Density: Approximately 1.4 kg/l
  • Application Temperature: 5 - 40°C (40 - 105°F)
  • Tack Free Time: Approximately 30 minutes
  • Shore A-hardness: Approximately 40
  • Tensile Strength: Approximately 1.8 N/mm²
  • Elongation at Break: Approximately 400%
  • Service Temperature: Short Term up to 150°C (300°F)
  • Shelf Life: 12 months for cartridge/unipack, 9 months for pail/drum

Product Benefits
  • Resistant to aging and weathering
  • Adheres to various substrates without special pre-treatment
  • Elastic, can be overpainted and sanded
  • Low odor, non-corrosive, high electrical resistance
  • Free from isocyanates, solvents, silicone, and PVC

Applications
Sikaflex®-521 UV is suitable for elastic sealing and bonding on substrates like timber, metals, ceramics, and plastics. Manufacturer's advice is recommended for transparent materials prone to stress cracking.

Cure Mechanism
The product cures by reacting with atmospheric moisture, with slower curing at lower temperatures. It should not be used with uncured PUR adhesives.

Chemical Resistance
Resistant to fresh and seawater, and some cleaning agents. Temporarily resistant to fuels and oils, but not to organic acids or concentrated mineral acids.

Application Method
  • Surface must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants.
  • Apply with appropriate equipment at 15°C to 25°C for best results.
  • Tooling and finishing should occur within the tack-free time.
  • Uncured material can be removed with Sika® Remover-208.

Overpainting
Can be overpainted within the skin formation time. Compatibility with paints should be tested.

Packaging
  • Cartridge: 300 ml
  • Unipack: 600 ml
  • Pail: 23 l (on request)
  • Drum: 195 l (on request)

Health and Safety
