Biresin® S5 is a transparent gelcoat used for CFRP-mouldings and in model making and prototyping.

Product Benefits
The product offers transparency, good spreading and wetting properties, mechanical resistance, edge stability, and non-sagging in thin layers. It can be used with Biresin® S15 hardener for extended pot life.

Description
Biresin® S5 is a two-component epoxy system consisting of a colorless, unfilled epoxy resin and two types of amine hardeners: Biresin® P7 (milky-white, filled) and Biresin® S15 (amber, unfilled).

Physical Data
Key properties include a density of 1.15 g/cm³, Shore hardness of D 85, E-Modulus of 3,500 MPa, flexural strength of 103-131 MPa, compressive strength of 109 MPa, impact resistance of 13-36 kJ/m², and a heat distortion temperature of 92-102°C.

Packaging
The resin and hardeners are available in various net weights: 2.5 kg for Biresin® S5 resin, 0.5 kg for Biresin® P7 hardener, and 0.35 kg for Biresin® S15 hardener.

Processing Data
The resin and hardeners have specific viscosities and densities at 23°C, with mixing ratios of 100:20:13 by weight. Pot life and geltime vary depending on the hardener used.

Processing Instructions
The material should be processed at temperatures between 18-25°C. Thorough mixing is required to avoid air entrapment. The mixture should be applied evenly on a pretreated mould surface. Post-treatment at 80°C for 2 hours enhances resistance.

Storage
Biresin® S5 resin has a shelf life of 24 months, while the hardeners last 12 months when stored properly. Crystallization can be reversed by warming.
