SQ-SVS MEMS Vibration Sensor

Product catalog summary
Overview: The SQ-SVS is a solid-state vibration sensor designed for RMS averaging of vibrations from 0.005 to 2 g RMS. It offers both analog and digital outputs, suitable for applications like motor vibration monitoring and alarm triggering.
Specifications: The sensor features an accuracy of 15%, a resolution of 0.005 g, a vibration range of 2 g dual axis, and a bandwidth of 1 Hz to 500 Hz. It has a 1-second averaging period, low temperature drift, and is factory calibrated.
Electrical Characteristics: The supply voltage ranges from 2.9 V to 5.8 V, with a typical supply current of 10 mA and models available at 20 µA. The output voltage ranges from 0.3 V to 0.9 × Vcc.
Performance Parameters: The analog range is Vib1: 0 – 1175 mgRMS and Vib2: 0 – 2350 mgRMS, with scale factors of 0.00253 V/mgRMS and 0.00127 V/mgRMS respectively. The maximum output is 3.121 V for both Vib1 and Vib2.
Output Characteristics: The sensor provides an 8-bit analog output with a PWM frequency of 5 kHz to 20 kHz.
Pin Configuration: Includes pins for ground, UART transmit/receive, analog outputs, and digital inputs for configuration and triggering, with specific pins for reset and programming functions.
Design Considerations: Not suitable for automatic assembly or wave soldering; hand soldering is recommended at 218 ºC for 3 seconds. Device orientation is crucial for accurate angle measurement.
Digital Serial Interface: Supports UART communication with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, and no flow control at 115,200 baud. Commands include Interrogate, Stream, and Reset.
Applications: Ideal for monitoring motor vibrations, triggering alarms, and applicable in fan motors, vehicle motors, and machine motors.
Serial Packet Format: Includes a header with two sync bytes (0xFE), followed by payload data for vibration and acceleration measurements. A checksum is calculated as a 16-bit unsigned integer sum of the payload values, excluding the sync bytes.
Ordering Guide: Offers various models and options, including bandwidth configurations, power regulator options, and mounting packages. Trigger options specify vibration thresholds in mgRMS. The product is RoHS compliant with custom options available.
Accessories: Include USB and RS232 cables for connecting the sensor to a PC, providing power, and enabling data logging with SignalVIEW software. A potting box enclosure is available for models without pins.
Limitations and Warnings: Not intended for life safety applications where failure could result in injury or death. Users assume all risks and responsibilities for such uses.
Testing: Each system undergoes build-time testing and factory calibration. System integrators are responsible for thorough testing to ensure safety and reliability.
Notice: Information is provided as a reference and may contain errors. Users should perform thorough testing and ensure compliance with patents and rights. Specifications may change without notice.

SQ-SVS SOLID STATE VIBRATION SENSOR WITH RMS AVERAGING 0.005 - 2 g RMS vibration, analog, serial and trigger outputs TRANSFER FUNCTION AveragePower ( mgRMS ) = Output ( V ) − Offset ( V ) Sensitivity (V / mgRMS ) DESCRIPTION The vibration sensor module performs calibrated averaging (root mean squared) vibration measurement with analog voltage and digital serial outputs. Because acceleration signals are extremely fast by nature, they require high speed sampling and computationally intensive processing to measure. The onboard RMS computation provides a slow moving output that can be easily measured by a low speed system to monitor the average vibration level, greatly simplifying vibration monitoring and measurement. RANGE AND SCALE VIB1 Output PARAMETER Scale Factor Offset (0 mgRMS value) Max (1175 mgRMS value ) FUNCTION 0.005 - 2 g dual axis vibration measurement FEATURES 15 % accuracy 0.005 g resolution 2 g dual axis vibration range 1 Hz - 500 Hz bandwidth, 1 second averaging period Programmable alarm outputs Low temperature drift Factory calibrated average vibration output High reliability solid-state MEMS Digital filtration for stable measurement Direct PC interface cable PARAMETER Scale Factor Offset (0 mgRMS value) Max (2350 mgRMS value ) Thresholds PARAMETER UNITS VALUE Threshold 1 mgRMS 25 Threshold 2 mgRMS 250 * Thresholds can be customized at the factory to suit the application APPLICATIONS Motor vibration measurement and monitoring Vibration alarm triggering Fan motors, vehicle motors, machine motors THEORY OF OPERATION The vibration sensor uses 2 factory calibrated accelerometers to measure and compute combined RMS acceleration. The calibration and RMS calculations are made by an onboard processor. Additional processing filters spurious acceleration and vibrations to reduce the impact on the resulting output angle.
