InnovaMass 240/241 Series

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Sierra Instruments introduced the InnovaMass® 240 and 241 models in the late 1990s as the first multivariable mass vortex flow meters. These are designed for measuring the mass flow rate of gases and liquids, particularly effective for steam applications.
Specifications
The InnovaMass flow meters measure five process parameters: mass flow rate, temperature, pressure, volumetric flow rate, and fluid density. The 241 model supports high-pressure applications up to 5000 psig, while the 240 model is suitable for cryogenic applications down to -330°F. Both models support digital communication protocols such as RS-485, Modbus, HART, and BACnet.
Features
- Multivariable outputs for five process parameters.
- Single process connection with in-line and insertion configurations.
- Field-configurable ranges, alarms, outputs, and displays.
- Smart DSP electronics for extended low flow range.
- Rangeability up to 30:1.
- Temperature range from -330°F to 750°F.
- Pressure up to 1500 psia, with high-pressure versions up to 5000 psig.
- Ideal for steam applications.
- Supports HART, Modbus, and BACnet protocols.
Dimensional Specifications
Detailed specifications for both in-line and insertion models, including various flange sizes and configurations, are provided.
Performance Specifications
The flow meters offer high repeatability and stability over 12 months, with adjustable response times. They are compatible with various materials but not recommended for multi-phase fluids.
Operating Specifications
Specific requirements for straight pipe lengths upstream and downstream of the meter are necessary. Detailed pressure ratings and material compatibility information are also provided.

Sierra’s multivariable product line features an in-line version, the InnovaMass 240 and a unique insertion version, the InnovaMass 241. The 241 has emerged recently as the proven instrument of choice in geothermal steam applications across the globe. Both the 240 and 241 measure the mass flow rate of any gas or liquid and are ideally suited for saturated or superheated steam. The InnovaMass offers customers one instrument and one process connection, measuring five process parameters simultaneously: mass flow rate, temperature, pressure, volumetric flow rate, and fluid density. The 241 is available in high-pressure versions capable of mass flow measurement up to 5000 psig (345 barg), and the 240 cryogenic version is widely used for fluids down to -330°F (-200°C). All models are fully field-programmable, configurable and feature RS-485, Modbus, HART and BACnet protocols. InnovaMass is a true high performance, rugged, and reliable workhorse in industry.
