Product catalog summary
Overview
The Siemens Wind Turbine SWT-2.3-93 is a high-efficiency member of the 2.3 MW turbine family, designed for both onshore and offshore applications. It features a robust structural design, automatic lubrication, climate control, and a simple generator system for exceptional reliability and long service intervals. The turbine uses Siemens’ NetConverter® system for flexible power conversion.

Technical Description
General Design: An upgraded version of the SWT-2.3-82, featuring a new B45 blade and a rotor diameter of 93 m, increasing the swept area by 25%.
Rotor: Three-bladed with pitch regulation for optimized power output. Variable rotor speed maximizes aerodynamic efficiency.
Blades: Made using Siemens’ IntegralBlade® process, ensuring no weak points and optimal quality.
Rotor Hub: Made of nodular cast iron, providing a spacious working environment for maintenance.
Main Shaft and Bearing: Forged in alloy steel, supported by a self-aligning double spherical roller bearing.
Gearbox: Custom-built, three-stage planetary-helical design with large-capacity cooling and filtering systems.
Generator: Fully-enclosed asynchronous machine with squirrel-cage rotor, designed for high efficiency at partial loads.
Mechanical Brake: Secondary safety system with hydraulic calipers.
Yaw System: Externally geared ring with friction bearing, driven by eight electric planetary gear motors.
Controller: Standard industrial computer with self-diagnosing capabilities.
Power Conversion: NetConverter® system allows variable speed, frequency, and voltage operation.
Tower: Tapered tubular steel, with optional personnel hoist.

Operation
The turbine operates automatically, starting at wind speeds of 3–5 m/s and reaching rated power at 13–14 m/s. It shuts down at wind speeds exceeding 25 m/s. The WebWPS SCADA system provides remote control and monitoring, while the Turbine Condition Monitoring system offers real-time diagnostics.

Grid Compliance
The turbine meets all current grid code requirements, with integrated Park Pilot facility for voltage and frequency control.

Technical Specifications
Generator: Asynchronous, 2,300 kW, 690 V, with integrated heat exchanger.
Yaw System: Active.
SCADA System: WebWPS for full turbine control.
Tower: Cylindrical/tapered tubular, 80 m or site-specific height.
Operational Data: Cut-in wind speed 4 m/s, nominal power at 13–14 m/s, cut-out wind speed 25 m/s.
Weights: Rotor 60 tons, Nacelle 82 tons.
Rotor: Diameter 93 m, swept area 6,800 m², speed 6–16 rpm.
Blades: Type B45, length 45 m.
Transmission System: 3-stage planetary/helical gearbox, ratio 1:91.
