Advanced fire protection for Istanbul Aydin University with Cerberus PRO Reliably protecting students and staff in a wide campus area with spread out buildings Istanbul Aydin University, a private university in the largest city of Turkey, decided for the Cerberus PRO fire protection system to reliably safeguard people, buildings and assets on the extensive campus. The project Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey, builds the bridge between Europe and Asia, and is home to more than 14 million people. Located in the west of the city is Istanbul Aydin University, a private university founded in 2007 that has approx. 34,000 students. It consists of 11 campuses, 10 faculties and a large technocenter. The former fire protection solution was a mix of several systems from different suppliers, which resulted in multiple false alarms. Since the protection of students and staff on the extensive campus has highest priority, Istanbul Aydin University needed to replace their old fire protection systems with an advanced system from one source. The challenge Protecting people, buildings and assets at a university is highly important – and a major challenge. A campus has various application areas ranging from laboratories and lecture rooms to cafeterias. They are all widely distributed, and each one has different requirements. That’s why Istanbul Aydin University needed a flexible solution. Another key aspect was to be able to centrally monitor the whole system at the university’s security command center. Furthermore, it was very important to quickly install and commission the system during the semester, without disturbing university life.
