Basic Information The European Council enacted the EU Directives with the CE marking due to efforts to harmonize the individual national standards. Regarding affixing the CE marking, Article 17 of the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU says: "1. The CE marking shall be affixed visibly, legibly and indelibly to the apparatus or to its data plate. Where that is not possible or not warranted on account of the nature of the apparatus, it shall be affixed to the packaging and to the accompanying documents. 2.
