Product catalog summary
Overview
High Energy resistors are designed for high energy and high voltage applications, offering non-inductive, ceramic composite construction. They are ideal for pulse shaping, crowbar, and capacitor charge/discharge applications, particularly in pulsed power systems. The resistors are coated with high-temperature silicone for enhanced performance in air, with optional configurations for other dielectrics.
Features
  • 100% Active Material
  • High Surge Energy Rating
  • High Voltage Withstand
  • Essentially Non-Inductive
  • Wide Resistivity Range
  • Various Geometries
  • Suitable for Air, Oil, SF6 Environments
  • Available as Single Disc or Modular Assemblies
  • Custom Solutions and Free Design Service
Applications
These resistors are used for low repetition rate discharge, crowbar, pulse shaping, or other impulse duties. They are selected to ensure no more than a 100°C rise for expected energy applications. Due to their large mass, they require a long cooling time between pulses or additional heat capacity.
Power Dissipation
Continuous power dissipation depends on the mounting method. In free air, a conservative estimate is 0.25 watts per cm² of exposed surface area. Higher dissipation can be achieved with conduction cooling or heat sinks.
Custom Assemblies
Custom resistor stacks use heavy-duty components for mechanical mounting and electrical isolation, supporting thousands of kilojoules of single-surge energy.
Performance
  • Resistance Tolerance: ±20%, ±10%, ±5%
  • Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR): 0.16 x e-(logρ/1.4) - 0.135 (%/°C)
  • Inductance: Negligible, described as non-inductive
Dimensions and Specifications
Resistors are available in various sizes with specific outer diameter (O.D), inner diameter (I.D), thickness, energy capacity, impulse voltage, and resistance range. Custom thicknesses are available, affecting ratings.
Ordering Information
Product codes include specifications for tolerance, diameter, thickness, I.D, and resistance. Example codes are provided for clarity.
Reference Standards
JIS C 5201-1 standards are referenced for these products.

KWX High Voltage Resistors HJR-1

Custom HJR High Energy resistor stacks employ heavy-duty components for mechanical mounting, electrical isolation and termination. yielding ratings to thousands of kilojoules of single-surge energy. High Energy resistors offer unsurpassed performance in high energy and high voltage applications. These non-inductive, ceramic composite resistors are designed for pulse shaping, crowbar, capacitor charg / discharge • • • any application requiring low inductance along with extremes of voltage and energy. They are ideally suited for use in pulsed power systems, where these resistors distribute energy uniformly throughout their structure for low thermal stress. The standard, high-temperature silicone coating enhances high voltage performance in air. Optional configurations optimize performance in other gaseous or fluid dielectrics. These resistors are also available as a solid disk without center bore. % Features I .100% Active Material E. In practice, a resistor or combination is selected to yield no more than 100oC rise for the expected applied energy. Because of the large mass, a relatively long cooling time is required between pulses, or additional heat capacity must be allowed for.Our applications spreadsheet (MS Excel, available on diskette) can beused to easily model heat-up and cool-down profiles for your specific application. 0 Power Dissipation Continuous power dissipation for HJR High Energy resistors is a function of mounting method used. In free air, .25 watt per cm2 of exposed surface area is a conservative rule of thumb. Thus, a 50mm disk with both faces and the periphery exposed could easily dissipate 20 watts. Higher power dissipation is achieved by conduction cooling through the mounting surface, applying an air or water cooled heat sink to either or both faces. 0 Derating Curve Maximum impulse voltage is mainly a function of resistance value and pulse width, and to a lesser extent, surface temperature and dielectric medium. The chart below shows the range of maximum impulse voltage for the standardized 1.2/ 50 [xsec. pulse width in air.,which indicates the range and relative impulse ratings for thevarious standard sizes. Our applications group can assist you in assessing the correct parameters for your application. 50 40 i-1 9 30 °20 SHENZHEN KWX ELECTRONICS CO., LTD Http: //www.kwxcomL.com
