The Radio Ampstik uses the same current sensor technology as the original SensorLink Ampstik. It quickly takes accurate current measurements and direction of current flow indication. Knowing source and load direction is essential for power system protection, load balancing, and metering. Using a live-line meter to verify direction of current flow on underground and overhead is a reliable method of collecting the data needed for troubleshooting and identifying source and load in bidirectional circuits. With the remote display, the user views communicated readings up to 50 feet from the sensor. The receiver can be held, attached to a hot stick, or hung on the bucket. This practical and useful display allows the user to keep both eyes and hands on the task of taking the measurement. The current sensor does not use magnetic materials and has no moving parts. The opening of the sensor is electronically closed and external currents are also electronically rejected. The sensor is not position sensitive; just slip the Radio Ampstik over a conductor to take a measurement. When in RUN mode, the receiver shows the current measurement and continues to update the reading three times per second. Users hold up to four readings on the remote display by pressing and releasing the switch when on a live line. The held readings can then be reviewed.
