Product catalog summary
Overview: The SHT25 is a high-accuracy humidity and temperature sensor by Sensirion, featuring low power consumption and long-term stability. It offers a digital output via an I2C interface and is housed in a reflow solderable DFN package.
Specifications: The sensor provides a humidity accuracy of 1.8% RH and a temperature accuracy of 0.2°C. It operates within a supply voltage range of 2.1 to 3.6 V, with a sleep mode current of 0.15 µA and a measuring current of 300 µA.
Performance: The SHT25 offers resolutions of up to 12 bits for humidity and 14 bits for temperature, with response times of 8 seconds for humidity and 5 seconds for temperature. It operates in a range of 0-100% RH and -40 to 125°C.
Design and Materials: The sensor includes a capacitive humidity sensor, a band gap temperature sensor, and other components, housed in a RoHS and WEEE compliant package.
Packaging and Handling: Available in tape and reel packaging, the SHT25 requires careful handling to avoid chemical exposure and should be stored in ESD bags. Reconditioning procedures are available for sensors exposed to extreme conditions.
Soldering Instructions: The sensor's I/O pads and die pad should be soldered to the PCB using a laser-cut stencil with a thickness of 0.125 mm. It can withstand reflow soldering with peak temperatures up to 260°C.
Additional Information: Evaluation kits EK-H4 and EK-H5 are available for testing. Further details and application notes can be accessed on Sensirion's website.
Heat Transfer and Self-Heating: Methods to minimize heat transfer include ventilation and reducing copper layers. Self-heating should be kept below 0.1°C by limiting sensor activity to 10% of the time.
Light Sensitivity: The sensor is not sensitive to light, but prolonged exposure to sunlight or UV radiation may age it.
Materials for Sealing/Mounting: Materials near the sensor should avoid humidity absorption. Recommended materials include metals, LCP, POM, and PTFE. High filled epoxy and silicone are suggested for sealing but should be used sparingly.
Wiring and Signal Integrity: To prevent cross talk, SCL and SDA signals should not be parallel for more than 10cm. Shielded cables and slowing down SCL frequency can improve signal integrity. Power supply pins must be decoupled with a 100nF capacitor.
Interface Specifications: The sensor uses a 6-pin interface with specific functions for each pin. The supply voltage must be between 2.1V and 3.6V, with a recommended voltage of 3.0V. SCL and SDA pins are used for communication, with specific timing requirements.
Electrical Characteristics: The document outlines the absolute maximum ratings and input/output characteristics. ESD and latch-up immunity are specified, and additional protection circuits may be needed for exposure beyond specified limits.
Communication with Sensor: The SHT25 communicates using the I2C protocol, with details on start-up, start/stop sequences, and measurement times for different resolutions.
Soft Reset and User Register: A soft reset command is available. The user register contains settings for battery alerts, heater functionality, and OTP reload as a safety feature.
Specifications and Features: The sensor provides default resolutions of 12-bit for humidity and 14-bit for temperature, includes a CRC-8 checksum for error detection, and an electronic identification code for traceability.
Measurement and Configuration: The user register allows configuration of measurement resolution. The sensor communicates via I2C protocol, with specific sequences for reading and writing registers.
Conversion Formulas: Relative humidity and temperature are calculated using specific formulas based on the sensor's output signals.
Environmental Stability: The sensor meets AEC-Q100 standards under various conditions, though performance under other conditions is not guaranteed.

SENSIRION THG SENSOR COMPANY Datasheet SHT25 Humidity and Temprature Sensor IC ■ Fully calibrated with 1.8%RH accuracy ■ Digital output, I2C interface ■ Low power consumption ■ Excellent long term stability ■ DFN type package - reflow solderable Product Summary SHT25, the new humidity and temperature sensor of Sensirion is about to set new standards in terms of size and intelligence: Embedded in a reflow solderable Dual Flat No leads (DFN) package of 3 x 3mm foot print and 1.1mm height it provides calibrated, linearized signals in digital, I2C format. With a completely new designed CMOSens® chip, a reworked capacitive type humidity sensor and an improved band gap temperature sensor the performance has been lifted even beyond the outstanding level of the previous sensor generation (SHT1x and SHT7x). For example, measures have been taken to stabilize the behavior at high humidity levels. Every sensor is individually calibrated and tested. Lot identification is printed on the sensor and an electronic identification code is stored on the chip - which can be read out by command. Furthermore, the resolution of SHT25 can be changed by command (8/12bit up to 12/14bit for RH/T), low battery can be detected and a checksum helps to improve communication reliability. With made improvements and the miniaturization of the sensor the performance-to-price ratio has been improved - and eventually, any device should benefit from the cutting edge energy saving operation mode. For testing SHT25 a new evaluation Kit EK-H4 is available. Dimensions Sensor Chip 3.0 0 SHT25 features a generation 4C CMOSens® chip. Besides the capacitive relative humidity sensor and the band gap temperature sensor, the chip contains an amplifier, A/D converter, OTP memory and a digital processing unit. Material Contents While the sensor itself is made of Silicon the sensors' housing consists of a plated Cu lead-frame and green epoxy-based mold compound. The device is fully RoHS and WEEE compliant, e.g. free of Pb, Cd and Hg. 0.8 typ 2.2 FF 2 Bottom View >| | ^ 0.4 03, NC VDD SCL u u u 4 5 2.4 Additional Information and Evaluation Kits Additional information such as Application Notes is available from the web page www.sensirion.com/sht25. Temperature and humidity sensor SHT25-5

Datasheet SHT25 5EN5IRION recommended to further process the sensors within 1 year after date of delivery. It is of great importance to understand that a humidity sensor is not a normal electronic component and needs to be handled with care. Chemical vapors at high concentration in combination with long exposure times may offset the sensor reading. For this reason it is recommended to store the sensors in original packaging including the sealed ESD bag at following conditions: Temperature shall be in the range of 10°C - 50°C and humidity at 20 - 60%RH (sensors that are not stored in ESD bags)....
