Multiaxial fabrics tecnology - 1

Multiaxial fabrics tecnology SELCOM multiaxial fabrics are the ideal textile structure (non crimp fabrics) for reinforced composites. Parallel reinforcement fibres are laid in different directionally orientated structure (as defined by the application), layer-by-layer, and stitched together with a lightweight polyester yarn to form a fabric. The result is a wide range of fabrics which are different for the number of layers, fibre orientation, type of fibre and weight of each single layer with properties which are ideal to satisfy the growing demand of engineered fabrics for the composites market. With multiaxial machines, other materials (eg. CSM, Mat, Non-wovens etc. ) Can be stitched on the outer surface of fabric or added between the layers, thus extending the possible range of products. With respect to traditional fabrics (woven or short fibres), NCF fabrics have superior mechanical properties, primarily from the fact that the fibres are always straight and non-crimped, and that more orientations of fibre are available from the increased number of fabric layers. Furthermore, Selcom team use the best possible compatibility with polymeric composites used by our customers. Multiaxial fabrics offer also higher conformability and flexibility to the technical requirements of the product the end user needs.
