Chamber Design:
The standard chamber diameter is 10" O.D. (254 mm), with an option for a larger 12" O.D. (305 mm) chamber. The chamber includes various ports for effusion cells, optical measurements, and other functionalities. The pumping configuration for the deposition chamber includes a 230 l/s Ion Getter Pump, Titanium Sublimation Pump, and a 265 l/s Turbomolecular Pump, with options for higher capacity pumps. The achievable base pressure is <1 x 10-10 mbar/torr with Iongetterpump and TSP.
Sample Manipulator:
The manipulator accepts standard Omicron small samples up to 10 x 10 mm and allows movement in x/y-direction (±8 mm), z-direction (100 mm), and azimuthal rotation (±180°). It includes options for heating and cooling, with various heating methods available, including resistive PBN heater and optional e-beam heating.
General Design Aspects:
The system is designed for accessibility and safe operation, with soft-acting shutter modules and interlocks for safety. It includes a bakeout tent for homogeneous heat distribution and comes fully assembled and tested as a turn-key system. The LAB-10 MBE systems can be extended with Omicron systems for various analysis techniques.
