Product catalog summary
Foreword
SCHNEEBERGER has been a leader in linear motion technology since 1923, known for setting industry standards in linear guideways regarding loading capacity, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The company focuses on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, providing products that are technically and economically superior, widely used in industries like biotechnology, semiconductor, and medical technology.
Useful Guidelines
The catalog offers 2D and 3D drawings for free download, ensuring compliance with RoHS and REACH guidelines, which include regulations on substances and limit values for environmental safety.
Product Overview
The catalog details various linear guideways and recirculating units, highlighting their design, sizes, and application-specific solutions, including earlier product generations and slideways.
Linear Guideway Product Specifications
Specifications for different types of linear guideways (Type R, RD, RN, RNG, N/O, M/V) are provided, detailing their unique features and applications.
Recirculating Unit Product Specifications
Details on recirculating units (Type SK, SKD, SKC, SR, NRT) are included, focusing on their specifications and operational benefits.
Options for Linear Guideways and Recirculating Units
Various options such as quality classes, corrosion-resistant materials, coatings, and cage control systems are discussed to enhance product performance.
Standard Parameters
Standard parameters for linear guideways and recirculating units include tolerances, operating temperatures, speeds, accelerations, and friction levels.
Design and Load Carrying Capacity
Design principles for linear guideways and recirculating units are outlined, along with methods for calculating load carrying capacity and service life.
Construction and Installation Guidelines
Guidelines for connecting structures, installation methods, fastening, preloading, sealing, lubrication, and handling are provided to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Order Descriptions
Instructions for ordering products are included, ensuring customers can specify their requirements accurately.
Specifications and Calculations
Detailed calculations for determining the equivalent load per ball, roller, or needle in various linear guideway systems are provided, ensuring the load per element is within permissible limits.
Procedures and Guidelines
Guidelines for constructing and installing linear guideways emphasize the importance of a rigid and precise connecting structure. Recommendations include using a ground substrate and ensuring parallelism and surface quality.
Standards and Recommendations
High-precision applications require a maximum Ra value of 0.4 for reference and locating surfaces, while standard applications should not exceed an Ra value of 1.6.
Diagrams and Data Interpretation
Diagrams illustrate the elastic deformation of linear guideways and recirculating units under load, helping deduce total deformation in relation to the load for different types of guideways and rolling elements.
Construction and Installation Guidelines
Tightening torques are specified for materials with a tensile strength greater than 360 N/mm². Preload is crucial for rigidity and zero-backlash of guideways, increasing displacement resistance but reducing service life.
Sealing and Covers
Sealing is essential for smooth operation and longevity of guideways, with various methods available depending on contamination risk.
Lubrication
Lubrication is a critical design element, with parameters such as operating conditions and compatibility considered. Common lubricants include lithium-soap-based greases and mineral-oil-based oils.
Transport, Handling, and Storage
Linear guideways and recirculating units should be handled with care, transported in original packaging, and stored in a dry environment to prevent premature failure.
Installation Guidelines
Proper installation involves removing burrs, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring parallelism. Fastening screws should be tightened with a torque wrench, and lubrication should be applied.

SCHNEEBERGER UNEAR TECHNCXOGY In 1923 SCHNEEBERGER laid the foundation of what is today global linear motion technology. SCHNEEBERGER standards then made it possible to build linear guide-ways, which in terms of loading capacity, reliability and cost-effectiveness set new standards and soon defined what is today the definitive industry standard. The same principles that were the foundation for our success, informing our way of thinking and acting apply today as previously: the spirit of innovation, a no-compromise approach to quality and the ambition to deliver to our customers products that...

3.4 Slideways In some applications slideways/slide bearings are more suitable than roller-contact bearings. For such applications SCHNEEBERGER produces steel strips, which are produced with a slideway lining selected by the customer (e.g. Turcite B, Glycodur or Ampco) and then re-ground. The slideways can be supplied in standardised dimensions for the roller-contact bearing or on a customer-specific basis too. Flat strips Our linear guideways can be universally deployed, but can also be configured on a customer-specific basis ex works. Amongst other things, SCHNEEBERGER offers the following services:...

Closed V guideway for surface grinding machines Economic perspectives also determine the structural design of the tables guideways for surface grinding machines. The V-shaped arrangement of the roller guideways creates a closed linear guideway that can be loaded for forces and moments from all directions. The few components ensure rapid and simple assembly. The stroke and table length ratios are optimal for the use of roller guideways. The basic surfaces of the roof-shaped linear guideways can be machined with extreme efficiency and precision because they are on the same plane. These surfaces...
