The EM720 provides a state-of-the-art fast transient recording capability. Transient pulses as short as 20ps at 50Hz (17ps at 60Hz) can be reliably recorded and analyzed. The EM720 can record such short pulses by a separate electronic channel with a sampling rate of 1024 samples/cycle. The transient amplitude is recorded relative to the ground in accordance with the strict definitions of power quality standards (EN50160).
