Overview of Sarens Launching Unit (SLU)
The Sarens Launching Unit (SLU) was specifically designed for the skidding of the Millau bridge deck in France in 2003. The bridge deck, measuring 27 meters in width and 2460 meters in length, with a total weight of 290,000 tons, was skidded using this system. The SLU was installed on seven temporary support structures, known as Sarens Multi Lifting Towers (SMLT), reaching a maximum height of 168 meters. The system had a total pushing capacity of 7,680 tons during the final skidding stages.
