Changeover and Bypass Switches

Product catalog summary
Overview: Santon offers three types of manual changeover switches: Packet, Cam, and Flat Pack. These switches can be configured with or without an off position and are available in enclosed or open formats for mounting in control panels.
Packet Switches: These rotary switches have been produced for over 80 years, capable of on-load switching with manually dependent mechanisms up to 125A. Independent mechanisms are standard above 125A. They feature silver contacts with a wiping blade type for low resistance and self-cleaning, complying with EN-IEC60947-3 standards.
Cam Operated Switches: Manufactured with modern processes, these switches comply with European standards and have manually dependent spring-operated mechanisms. Made with thermosetting melamine for arc resistance, they have an insulation voltage of 660V and feature double break 'anti-weld' silver alloy contacts. Contacts are paralleled above 315A for higher ratings, complying with EN-IEC60947-3 standards.
Flat Pack Switches: These switches combine in-line interlocked switches with manually independent mechanisms and three positions: 1.O.2, Bypass-OFF-NORMAL. They feature double break wiping action contacts and are designed for ease of connection, complying with EN-IEC60947-3 standards.
Bypass Switches: These switches allow isolation from the mains and standby supply while ensuring the load is fed. Suitable for 415/440V 3-phase & SN supply, they come in three types: Normal Bypass, Normal-Bypass, and Standby Bypass-Normal-Mains Bypass, each with specific configurations for feeding the load and isolating the changeover contactor.
Specifications: Detailed specifications for each switch type include dimensions, terminal markings, and order references. Options such as auxiliary contacts, door interlocking handles, and enclosed switches are outlined.
UPS Bypass Switches: These switches allow the load to be fed directly from the mains supply while the UPS is disconnected, featuring make-before-break contacts to prevent supply interruption during switching. Various configurations and ratings are available, with additional options upon request.
Technical Data Overview: The document provides detailed technical specifications for various switchgear components, including Flat Pack Switches, Cam Switches, and their respective ratings, terminal screw torque, and maximum connection capacities.
Flat Pack Switches Changeover: Ratings range from 200A to 2000A. Terminal screw sizes vary from M10 to M14, with torque requirements from 24 NM to 55 NM. Maximum connection sizes are specified, with copper connections ranging from 240 sq mm to 3x12x80.
Flat Pack Switches Bypass: Ratings range from 200A to 1600A. Terminal screw sizes range from M8 to M16, with torque requirements from 13 NM to 80 NM. Maximum connection sizes are specified, with copper connections ranging from 185 sq mm to 2x80x7.
Short Circuit and Operational Ratings: Short circuit making capacity and rated operational current are provided for both AC22 and AC23 at 415V. Short circuit withstand current (Icw) and maximum power dissipation (I2t) are noted.
Cam Switches: Ratings range from 40A to 1000A. Prospective fault current and maximum permissible fuse sizes are detailed for different fault current levels (10 kA, 25 kA, 40 kA).
General Recommendations: Consideration of short circuit conditions at the installation point is advised for all switches. Maximum fuselink sizes for prospective short circuits are provided.
Contact Information: Santon Switchgear contact details for various locations including the Netherlands, UK, Germany, and Spain are provided. Compliance with EN-ISO 9001 standards is noted.
