Catalog excerpts
The DSS series is an indexable work-holding tombstone. Designed to be mounted on the pallet of machining centers, the DSS allows versa- tile maching without rechucking. The drive uses a roller gear cam mechanism for smooth rotation and self-locking in any position. The output shaft is held rigid enough for heavy grinding and finishing work. Furthermore, the unit is self contained and can be mounted on pallets in multiple places, each without sensors or other means of drive sourc- es. To turn, attach the special bar to the main spindle and use the arc interpolation feature of the NC to rotate the cam follower on the disc. Five different surface: This cam operated unit allows machining to five different surfaces with tour horizontal machining Zero backlash: The roller gear cam mechanism's zero backlash design provides high accuracy indexing motion. Our custom designed, heavy duty cam followers provide the unit with a high degree of torsional stiffness for heavy duty machining applications. Zero contact(Remote unit): Since the SANDEX DSS unit does not require an independent input drive source, signal wire or control cable. It is easily installed on the NC pal- let system for easy spindle access and hook-up. #^ Indexable work-holding tombstone
