MARCOTECH ULTRA AU40 WATER-BASED ENAMEL FOR ACRYLIC-URETHANE LACQUERING FOR INTERIORS AND EXTERIORS SEMIGLOSS Series 324 DESCRIPTION Water-thinnable enamel based on acrylic-urethane resins, formulated for lacquering suitably-prepared doors and windows, hard PVC and metal. It creates finishes that are well protected from atmospheric agents, with good surface hardness and a high resistance to scratches and shocks. Creates a barrier against grease and dirt, easy to clean with household cleaners. Being fast-drying, it allows for quick application and completion. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Galvanized surfaces, aluminum and light alloys: - Remove any traces of oxides by mechanical or manual cleaning. - Carefully degrease with suitable alkaline solutions or thinner. - Remove any layers of old, poorly-adhering paints, and sand the entire surface in to roughen it. - Remove all traces of dust and, on a perfectly dry substrate, apply 1-2 coats of PRIMER 1630307 rust inhibitor. - Apply 2 layers of MARCOTECH ULTRA. Can be applied on: - wood substrates that are dimensionally stable, new or already varnished; - suitably pre-treated ferrous metal substrates; - galvanized surfaces, aluminum and light alloys, PVC, after application of a primer; BE CAREFUL when treating wood rich in tannin. To reduce dark stains forming, apply insulating primer UNIMARC PRIMER ANTITANNINO cod. 3080001/0019. Surfaces in plastic material (PVC): - Sand the surface area to roughen it slightly. - Degrease with suitable thinner and clean the substrate. - On a clean and dry substrate, apply 2 layers of UNIMARC FONDO UNIVERSALE series 335 or 1-2 layers of PRIMER 1630307. - Apply 2 layers of MARCOTECH ULTRA. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Ambient and substrate conditions: Ambient temperature: min. +8°C - max. +35°C Ambient relative humidity: <75% Substrate temperature: min. +5°C - max. +35 °C Substrate humidity: <10% -Tools: brush, roller for enamels, spray gun. -Thinner: water. -Dilution: .Brush/roller ready to use, or max. 5%; .Airless max. 5% (nozzle diameter 0.011-0.015 mm, pressure approximately 200 bar); .Low pressure max. 20% (nozzle diameter 1.8-2.2 mm, pressure air approximately 0.5 bar); .High pressure max 20% (nozzle diameter 2-2.5 mm, air pressure approx. 2-3 bar). -Coats: 2. -Tools cleaning must be done with water immediately after use. -Indicative spreading rate: 6-7 sq.m/l based on 2 coats, creating a dry thickness of 60 micrometers. -Type of binder: acrylic-urethane copolymer in water dispersion -Indoor Air Quality classification: A -Solvent: water -Specific gravity per UNI EN ISO 2811-1: 1.10-1.35 kg/l according to the colors. -Gloss per UNI EN ISO 2813: 40 at 60° -Viscosity per UNI 8902: 2000±300 cps. at 25 °C (Brookfield rotational viscometer). -Drying (25 °C and 65% R.H.): dust free 30 min; to touch 1 hour; to recoat after 5 hours. PREPARING THE SURFACE Wooden surfaces: - Sand to remove lifted-up wood fibers and sharp edges. - Remove any layers of old peeling-off paints and roughen up all the already-painted surfaces. - Remove any resins using a suitable thinner. - Fill the imperfections with a synthetic filler. Sand the filler and remove the dust. - Apply primer UNIMARC FONDO UNIVERSALE series 335, or MARCONOL ORIENTALITE series 145, or RAPID series 144 onto a dry and clean substrate. - Apply 2 layers of MARCOTECH ULTRA. Ferrous metal surfaces: - Remove, by mechanical or manual cleaning, any flakes from laminations that do not adhere perfectly, and any traces of rust. - Remove any layers of old paints that do not adhere well, and sand the entire surface. - Degrease the substrate with a suitable thinner. - Remove all traces of dust and dirt. - Apply 1-2 coats of PRIMER 1630307 anti-rust onto a perfectly dry substrate. - Apply 2 layers of MARCOTECH ULTRA. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS TINTING The product may be tinted by means of the Color Matching System. When using multiple batches it is recommended to remix the various products together to avoid slight differences in shading. STORAGE Maximum temperature for storage stability: +30 °C Minimum temperature for storage stability: +5 °C The product should be preferably used within 2 years from date of manufacture when stored in original unopened containers and in appropriate temperature conditions.
