Tygon® WSA-60-1

High Precision Tubing for Water Analysis Applications Seeking compliance with government regulations such as the Clean Water Act, engineers are charged with monitoring municipal and industrial wastewater before its discharge. To meet this end, engineers often implement the use of peristaltic pumps to prevent cross-contamination, as the only part of the pump to come in contact with the water is the interior of the tubing itself. Tygon ® WSA-60 tubing is chemically inert and long wearing to withstand repeated flexing of peristaltic cycles, and offers repeatable pump control for accurate dosing, making it the ideal choice for water analysis applications (see Graph 1, second page). Accurate and Repeatable Dosing Water analysis applications require repeatable pump control for accurate dosing. Varying flow rates result in scrapped product and increased costs. Tygon ® WSA-60 tubing is extremely consistent throughout its entire product life as the smooth bore resists the absorption of water to maintain flow rate accuracy (see Graph 1). Features and Benefits • ccurate and repeatable dosing A • Long peristaltic pump life • Chemically inert • Outstanding chemical resistance Long Peristaltic Pump Life Peristaltic pumps are often used in water analysis applications. One of the requirements for the tubing is to withstand the constant high flexural fatigue exerted by the pump rollers. Tygon ® WSA-60 tubing’s high flexural fatigue strength provides outstanding performance when compared to other tubing technologies, thus reducing downtime due to pump tubing failure. Chemical Inertness* In the process of water analysis, the tubing has the potential to impact the characteristics of the water being transferred and affect the chemical composition of the sample. This ultimately affects the integrity of the sample being analyzed, so it is extremely important that the tubing does not leach or absorb any chemicals, which Tygon ® WSA-60 tubing demonstrates. Outstanding Chemical Resistance Abrasive, corrosive and aggressive chemicals are handled with ease because of Tygon ® WSA-60 tubing’s outstanding chemical resistance. Graph 2 (second page) shows insignificant changes in the tubing mechanical properties after exposure to typical chemicals that can be seen in the sample being analyzed. Tygon ® WSA-60 tubing was precision designed to provide a coveted combination of chemical resistance, flexibility, reliability and long pump life, providing engineers with the ideal tubing for water analysis applications. *Tested per select EPA drinking and wastewater standards.
