Acoustic grilles SagiCofim Acoustics AFO AL 1 and AL 2 acoustic grilles are used to attenuate the noise produced by the machines of conditioning and refrigerating systems, yet still allowing the passage of the air necessary for their operation. They can be installed like entire sound-proof walls on the outside of buildings or on the ground, or they can be applied to walls by the floor central units, instead of the traditional grilles. AFO AL 1 grilles are made of boxed blades, with semi-aerodynamic profiles, mounted on the relevant supporting frame; the upper surface of the blade is made of solid galvanized steel sheet, the bottom part instead is made of perforated galvanized steel and the acoustic insulation material is positioned inside. They are 300 mm thick. AFO AL 2 grilles, with a higher noise attenuation capacity, are obtained by placing two standard grilles in opposite positions one after the other. They are 600 mm thick. AFO AL 1 and AL 2 can meet any stylistic requirement for continuous lines and corners and are available in many colours and finishing. On request they can be made of painted steel or aluminum beside galvanized steel. Applications Acoustic grilles can be applied as protecting grilles around water cooling towers, refrigerating units and air condensers. They are suitable for wall installation by external air intake points or stale air exhaust systems in conditioning and ventilation systems. They are suitable also for the ventilation of generator sets and in closed or underground parking areas. Installation The AFO AL 1 and AL 2 grilles can be installed in two different ways: to make protective walls or on openings of building facades. To create the walls, the grilles can be supplied without flanges, but fitted with all other necessary accessories. For installation on openings, the assembly is normally with flanges and counter-frames. Several accessories and optional devices are available: hinged acoustic grilles, closed sound-proof doors, protection grids, supporting structures, etc. Acoustic performances - Sound reduction index (dB) Acoustic performances are expressed through the Sound Reduction Index, i.e. the sound transmission drop through walls. In standard calculation applications, the performances indicated here are used in the same way as the attenuator static insertion drop. The Sound Reduction Index is obtained by the average acoustic performance value, calculated in the five positions of the microphone.
