Overview: The S&C SpeedNet™ Radios are designed for secure, long-range communication, high-volume data transmission, and flexible mesh networking, ideal for industrial monitoring, automation, and control applications.
Reliable Transmission: SpeedNet Radios form a peer-to-peer mesh network that is easy to set up and maintain. They automatically build routing tables and can quickly establish new paths if a node is lost. Operating in the unlicensed 902-928 MHz band, they offer a range of 2 to 5 miles in mesh mode and over 6 miles in point-to-multipoint mode. Repeaters can extend this range.
Security Features: The radios use frequency-hopping spread-spectrum transmissions, making them difficult to intercept or jam. They feature a 10-ms dwell time, address filtering, and 128-bit AES encryption for data protection.
Speed and Performance: SpeedNet Radios can transmit 600 bytes and acknowledge receipt within 10 ms, suitable for DNP 3.0 SCADA data packets. The total data processing time is 16 ms, making them ideal for backhaul routing applications.
Standard Features: Key features include fast data transmission rates up to 650 kbps, adaptive power control, serial and Ethernet data inputs, over-the-air configuration, and battery backup with remote testing.
Product Variants: There are four versions of SpeedNet Radios:
- SpeedNet Radio: Requires a 12-Vdc power source and can use various antennas.
- Streetlight-Mounted Repeater Radio: Weatherproof, mounts on streetlight arms, and includes battery backup.
- Utility-Pole-Mounted Repeater Radio: Weatherproof, mounts on utility poles, and includes battery backup.
- SpeedGate™ Radio Interface System: Allows data exchange with different communication systems and includes battery backup.
