Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers

Product catalog summary
Overview
The document introduces the Armstrong family of heat transfer products, designed for commercial and industrial applications. These products include a range of heat exchangers such as Plate & Frame, Shell and Tube, and Tank Heater Tube Bundles, all engineered to provide efficient and reliable performance.

Plate & Frame Heat Exchangers
These exchangers consist of corrugated metal plates bolted between two pressure plates, creating turbulence for high heat transfer efficiency. They are typically made from stainless steel, with titanium as an option, and are optimized for water-to-water heat transfer in HVAC applications. They are available in designs for 100 psi, 150 psi, and 300 psi, with higher pressures accommodated upon request.

Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers
Armstrong offers brazed plate exchangers for refrigeration and process temperature control, made from 316 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. Standard designs use copper brazing, with nickel as an option.

Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers
These exchangers are available in standard or custom configurations, suitable for water or steam applications. They feature carbon steel shells and copper tubes, with options for different materials and pressure ratings. The design adheres to ASME Boiler Code Section VIII, Division 1.

Tank Heaters
Designed for immersion heating of water in storage tanks, these units use copper tubing and are available in single or double-wall configurations. They are constructed with brass or stainless steel tubesheets.

Type W, WS, WR, U-Tube Type WX, WSX, WRX Double-Wall, U-Tube Double-Wall tube (tube-in-tube design) heat exchangers are designed for applications where it is critical that the system prevent the mixing of internal fluids, i.e. potable water heaters. These units, in the event of a leak, allow the liquid to drain to atmosphere. Made from the same quality components as the W Series, the tube bundle from a WX Series heat exchanger will fit the shell of an existing W Series heat exchanger. Armstrong U-Tube heat exchangers are designed for durability and include a removable tube bundle as a standard...
