Product catalog summary
Overview: The document is a technical bulletin from Rudolph Research Analytical, focusing on the Autopol® Series of Automatic Polarimeters. These instruments are crucial for measuring optical activity in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, and chemicals.
Polarimetry: Polarimetry measures the optical activity of compounds, essential for quality control and research. It is based on Biot’s law, linking optical rotation to molecular structure and concentration.
Research Applications: Polarimetry aids in isolating and identifying unknown compounds, evaluating optically active compounds, investigating kinetic reactions, monitoring concentration changes, distinguishing optical isomers, and analyzing molecular structures.
Quality and Process Control: The Autopol series ensures product purity and quality in the pharmaceutical, essential oil, flavor, and food industries by measuring specific and optical rotations.
Measurement Modes: The Autopol can measure in Optical Rotation, Specific Rotation, Concentration, or Specific Rotation Plus modes, supporting sample cells up to 200mm for increased sensitivity.
Temperature Control: Temperature control is achieved via external water baths or the TempTrol™ system, which electronically heats and cools samples.
Multiple Wavelengths: Models offer single, dual, and six wavelengths for versatile measurements without manual adjustments.
Models and Features: Various models are detailed:
  • Autopol I: Entry-level for educational and basic research.
  • Autopol II: Greater wavelength flexibility.
  • Autopol III: Entry-level USP pharmaceutical solution with high accuracy.
  • Autopol IV: Enhanced accuracy for pharmaceuticals.
  • Autopol V and V Plus: High-end models for pharmaceutical companies.
  • Autopol VI: For advanced research laboratories with the highest accuracy.
Specifications: The document provides specifications, including measuring modes, resolution, accuracy, and optional features. It features 3 USB ports, 2 RS232 ports, and an Ethernet port, operating on Windows 7 Embedded with an 8” color display.
Quality and Components: High-quality Glan Thompson Calcite Polarizers are used, ensuring better light transmission and durability, guaranteed for the life of the polarimeter.
Validation and Calibration: Models come with standard accessories, validation tools, and automatic calibration functions, accessible through a liquid-sealed touchscreen.
Compliance and Reporting: Supports full cGMP/GLP compliance, with measurement reports saved as Excel or PDF files. Users can import logos and print customized Certificates of Analysis.
Customer Feedback: A testimonial from Alan Davis of Rockwell Medical Technologies praises the AUTOPOL V for its reliability and performance, highlighting its trouble-free operation and quality service.

Polarimetry A sensitive nondestructive technique for measuring the optical activity exhibited by inorganic and organic compounds. A compound is considered to be optically active if linearly polarized light is rotated when passing through it. The amount of optical rotation is determined by the molecular structure and concentration of chiral molecules in the substance. Each optically active substance has its own specific rotation as defined in Biot's law: [a ][=—f c*l [a] = specific rotation l = optical pathlength in dm X = wavelength T = temperature a = optical rotation c = concentration in g/100ml...

Windows 7 Embedded Operating System No virus, no malware and direct Ethernet connection to LIMS or Server without a PC. Connect to almost any USB printer Measurement Modes The Autopol can read directly in one of four measurement modes: Optical Rotation, Specific Rotation, Concentration or Specific Rotation Plus. Specific Rotation Plus allows a correction to be applied to a result for loss on drying. Each measurement mode can be activated via touchscreen selection. Sample cells can be specified at any length (e.g., 50mm, 100mm, 200mm), or entered as a precise dimension (e.g., 199.98mm). Concentration...

This model is available in one, two and six wavelength versions and has a more expensive optical system than the Autopol III. It is the system of choice for research universities, pharmaceutical and fine chemical research departments. This instrument is also excellent for studying racemics and kinetics. Temperature control may be accomplished through a circulating Water Bath or with Rudolph’s optional Patented TempTrol™ System, which electronically heats and cools the sample to a specified temperature without the use of water circulation. IQOQPQ documentation is included with the instrument....
