Overview: The DB-5 Intrinsically Safe
Sounder is designed for high ambient noise areas, offering 100dBA output with 26 user-selectable tones. It can be paired with DA135
Beacons for combined audible and visual warnings. The sounder is compact and efficient, suitable for fire alarm systems and other annunciator applications.
Specifications: The sounder features a re-entrant configuration, IP65 weatherproof rating, and is ATEX certified (Ex II 1G EEx ia IIC T4). It operates on 12 or 24VDC with low power consumption, making it flexible for various applications. The enclosure is made of ABS with an encapsulated electronic module, and it is red in color.
Sound and Tone Selection: Users can select from 26 tones using a 5-way DIL switch. A second tone can be activated by switching the negative supply to a third terminal. The volume is adjustable by 15dB via a potentiometer. The sounder complies with BS 5839 Part 1 for fire alarm systems.
Certification and Compliance: The DB-5 is certified to EN50014:1997, EN50020:1994, and EN50284:1999 standards. It is suitable for Zones 0, 1, or 2, and Gas Groups IIC, IIB, or IIA, with a temperature class up to T4. It complies with EMC standards EN61000-6-2:2001 and EN61000-6-4:2001.
Installation and Connections: The sounder is easy to install in hazardous areas, with six terminals for cables up to 2.5mm². It features a deep base with three knock-outs for conduit or cable glands. The units are polarised for reverse polarity testing and line monitoring.
Environmental Conditions: Operating temperature ranges from 0 to 55ºC, with storage temperatures from -20 to 80ºC. It can handle humidity levels from 0-95% RH, non-condensing.
Safety Parameters: For the 24V version: Ui = 28V, Ii = 28mA, Pi = 0.81W, Ci = 0, Li = 20mH. For the 12V version: Ui = 15.7V, Ii = 37mA, Pi = 0.56W, Ci = 0, Li = 20mH + 325Ω + 1000Ω (Li/Ri = 61.5µH/Ω).
Recommended Interfaces: Zener Barriers (S951 for 24V, S931 for 12V) and IS Isolators (WIS1211 for 24V).
Approvals: The sounder is approved by Baseefa and MECS for Europe, CSA for Canada, and FM for the USA, meeting various international standards.
