Product catalog summary
Introduction
The GEN206/P is a cost-effective smart in-head transmitter designed for PT100 temperature sensors. It converts sensor output over a configured range to a standard industrial 4 to 20 mA transmission signal. The device can be configured via PC using a USB port, allowing users to select range, units, and burnout direction without calibration equipment. Configuration files can be saved for future use. The transmitter uses digital technology for accurate, drift-free performance.
PC Configuration
  • Equipment Required: A computer with Windows XP or later, USB configurator, leads, and downloadable software.
  • Method: Load the PC with USB_Link software, connect the USB configurator to the PC, attach tool clips to the GEN206 loop terminals, run the software, set the desired configuration, and save it to the device.
Specifications at 20°C
  • Input: Accepts Pt100 sensors with a range of -200 to +850°C. Minimum span is 25°C. Measurement accuracy is 0.1°C ±0.05% of reading.
  • Output: 2-wire 4-20 mA current loop with a maximum output of 21.5 mA in high burnout condition. Accuracy is the greater of (mA output / 2000) or 5 µA.
  • General: Update time is 500 ms, response time is 1 second, and power supply is 10-30 Volts DC.
  • Environmental: Operating range is -40 to 85°C, storage temperature is -50 to 90°C, and humidity range is 10 to 90% RH non-condensing.
  • Physical: Dimensions are 43 mm in diameter and 21 mm in height, with a weight of 31 g.
  • Approvals: Complies with EMC standards BS EN 61326:1998 and IEC standards for electrostatic discharge, EM field, transient burst, and surge.
Notes
  • Sensor input wires should be less than 3 meters to comply with standards.
  • Full accuracy is guaranteed only for spans greater than the minimum recommended.

TEMPERATURE Product Data Sheet Smart PT-100 Temp Transmitter INTRODUCTION: GEN206/P The GEN206/P is a cost effective “smart” in-head transmitter that accepts PT100 temperature sensors and converts sensor output over a configured range to a standard industrial (4 to 20) mA transmission signal. PC configuration allows the user to select Range, units and Burnout direction, without requiring calibration equipment. Configuration is performed quickly using our new USB port driven configurator by simply connecting two clips to the GEN206/P loop terminals and following the software instructions. Calibration set up may be saved as a file on the PC for later use.
