THE SPECIALIST IN SOLID/LIQUID SEPARATION BY CENTRIFUGATION SOLID/LIQUID SEPARATION The centrifugal liquid/solid separation can be achieved by two distinct principles: the centrifugal filtration (or spin drying) and the centrifugal decantation. CENTRIFUGAL FILTRATION The separation of the mixed solid and liquid is allowed by the liquid coming through a filtering media under the pressure generated by the centrifugal force. This filtering media, the perforated basket wall and eventually the filter cloth which is applied on it, performs the retention of solids inside the rotating basket. In the case of a solution that can be fed into a rotating basket: Feed slurry Perforated basket Liquid Evacuation Chemistry: Powders, crystals, precipitates, active ingredients... Filter cloth with draining mesh Liquid Food industry: Starch, fertilizers, vegetables, fruits, spices... Cake/Solids Recycling: Battery and plastic recycling. Métallurgy: Metal extraction, spinning of parts, chips... CENTRIFUGAL DECANTATION In case of three phases solution. Decantation or centrifugal sedimentation is due to the density difference of the components subjected to the centrifugal field. In this case, the solid (cake) with higher density is directly pressed against the wall of the rotating bowl radially. The liquid with lower density (light phase) concentrates towards the axis of rotation of the bowl, i.e., towards the center of the bowl. Feed slurry Evacuation Lighter liquid Heavier liquid Chimistry: Cosmetic products, collagen, nanoparticles, pigments, microalgae... Solid particle migration Bowl Food industry: Vegetable oils, fruit pulps... Sediment Rotation Environment : Water treatment, effluent recycling, In the case of a three-phase solution composed of two immiscible liquids, classification follows the same principle, with the heaviest liquid interposed between the solid and the lightest liquid. sludge recycling. Textile : Pigments
Open the catalog to page 1THE SPECIALIST IN LIQUID/LIQUID EXTRACTION BY CENTRIFUGATION LIQUID/LIQUID EXTRACTION Liquid / liquid extraction or solvent extraction, consists in transferring one (or more) solute(s) contained in a feed solution to another immiscible liquid (solvent). The solvent that is enriched in solute(s) is then called extract and the feed solution that is depleted in solute(s) is called raffi nate. The general principle consists fi rst of all of mixing the initial liquid solution containing the solute with solvent which has been chosen for its affi nity with the solute. These two phases must be immiscible...

One stage of centrifugal extractor has two zones: • Mixing zone where a disc (rotating or fixed depending on the type of extractor) allows a thorough mixing. • Separation zone (bowl or decantation chamber) where, under the centrifugal force generated by rotation, the two phases of dispersion will be dynamically separated and transferred by overfl owing at the level of two weirs one of which is interchangeable.
