What does PTC technology mean? PTC means "Positive Temperature Coefficient" and characterizes the electrical behaviour of the semiconductor heater segment that is the base component of the heating element. Each semiconductor element generates the heat output as the thin resistive wire in a constant power heater, but with a very significant difference: with increasing temperature the resistance of the PTC element rises instantaneously and reduces automatically the power output (P = V2/R) generating the so called "self-limiting" effect.
