SND40 for coils

Product catalog summary
Overview: The SND40 Weld Seam Detector is designed for detecting weld seams in ferrous and non-ferrous materials using a combination of Leaking Flux and Eddy Current technologies. It is suitable for coils, wires, and lines, and can detect invisible weld seams at high inspection speeds.
Specifications: The SND40 can handle coils at speeds up to 32 ft/sec and is compatible with various sensor types, including magnetic Leaking Flux sensors and Eddy Current sensors. It features a PC-based unit with a touchscreen interface, Fieldbus, and Ethernet connectivity, and is suitable for all metallic materials.
Measurement Procedure: The system requires the material to be stationary for sensor placement, after which it is continuously transported for measurement. The process is initiated by a PLC start signal, and a seam is detected when the sensor signal exceeds a threshold.
Technologies: The SND40 combines Leaking Flux and Eddy Current technologies. Leaking Flux is suitable for ferromagnetic materials, while Eddy Current is used for detecting deviations in magnetic and electrical conductivity, offering higher resolution for narrow seams.
Sensors: Various sensors are available for different applications, including tubes, cans, drums, coils, cables, wires, and lines. Each sensor has specific dimensions, weight, and material compatibility.
Technical Data: The SND40 operates on a supply voltage of 100 - 240 V AC, with a power consumption of less than 110 W. It is protected to IP54 standards and operates within a temperature range of 0 - 40 °C.
Control Units and Interfaces: The system includes an embedded PC with Windows CE, real-time computing, and a 10” touchscreen for easy operation. It supports multiple measurement programs and offers USB and Ethernet interfaces for data backup and remote diagnostics.
Order Information: Various control unit versions are available, including options for Eddy Current and Leaking Flux modules, with different interface controls such as I/O and ProfiNet IO.
Accessories: Sensor cables and accessories are available for connecting sensors to the system, including sensor cables with straight or angular sockets and sensor connection boxes.

WELD SEAM DETECTION In addition to the most common sensors Listed here, more sensors are available. The suitable sensor must be determined by an investigation of sample material in our application laboratory, in order to guarantee reliable function. Leakage flux sensors and Eddy current sensors require a constant distance between the sensor element and the material surface. Since the sensor is placed on the material surface for measurement, a mechanical jacking device (e.g. with pneumatic cylinder) is required. Encircling coils have a tubular detection coil, the material transits through it....
