Users can download these maps from the Internet using the R&S®OpenStreetMapWizard ( SMWizard) included with the R&S®DDF007. Typically, this results in a coarse spectrum resolution. In many applications, a much finer channel resolution in the IF spectrum is required in order to see details in the spectrum that are not visible otherwise. They use eight antenna elements in this range, while commercially available DF antennas typically have only four. The antennas also contain an electronic compass that continuously measures the antenna's alignment to magnetic north to ensure that the DF values displayed on a map are accurately referenced to north.
