Overview: The SIDECAR™ ASIC is a comprehensive solution for managing imaging array operations and output digitization. It is designed for use with Teledyne Imaging Sensor’s HAWAII series focal plane arrays and supports various imaging applications, including CCDs.

Specifications:

• 36 input channels with options for reference output, window output, and temperature sensor.
• Analog-to-digital conversion up to 500 kHz with 16-bit resolution or up to 10 MHz with 12-bit resolution.
• Preamp gain adjustable from 0dB to 27dB in 3dB steps.
• 32 programmable digital I/O signals and 20 programmable bias voltages/currents.
• 16-bit fully programmable microcontroller with efficient power-down modes.
• 1-24 digital I/O channels for data transfer using LVDS or CMOS.
• Power consumption of less than 150 mW at 100 kHz for 32-channel 16-bit A/D operation.

Development Kit: The SIDECAR™ ASIC development kit is a versatile, low-cost solution for ground-based, airborne, and space-based applications. It includes assembly code for standard readout modes and supports custom applications.

Supported Modes:

• Full-field, 32 output, slow readout mode (up to 500 kHz).
• Correlated double sampling, Fowler sampling, and up-the-ramp sampling.
• Window operation with multiple windows.
• Custom modes such as guide mode operation, different integration times, fast mode readout (up to 10 MHz), and selectable outputs.

Kit Configurations: The SIDECAR™ ASIC kit is available in Room-Temperature (RT) Development and Cryogenic Focal Plane Electronics (FPE) configurations. The RT kit is designed for flexibility and testing, while the Cryogenic FPE kit is optimized for performance with the HAWAII-RG focal plane arrays.
