Overview: The HAWAII-2RG™ (H2RG) is a high-performance readout integrated circuit designed for visible and infrared astronomy applications in both ground-based and space telescopes. It features a large 2048×2048 pixel array with an 18 µm pixel pitch.
Specifications:- Pixel Array: 2048×2048 pixels with 18 µm pixel size.
- Compatibility: Works with Teledyne Imaging Sensors' HgCdTe infrared and silicon PIN HyViSI™ visible detectors, covering spectral bands from soft X-ray to 5.5 µm.
- Substrate-Removed HgCdTe: Enhances J-band quantum efficiency, allows visible spectrum response, and eliminates substrate-related issues like fluorescence and fringing.
- Noise Rejection: Includes reference rows and columns for common-mode noise rejection.
- Guide Window Output: Supports windowing with simultaneous full array data acquisition, programmable for up to 5 MHz pixel rate.
- Output Flexibility: Selectable outputs (1, 4, or 32) and scan directions for flexible data acquisition.
- Readout Rates: Full-frame readout rates range from less than 0.1 Hz to 80 Hz.
- Modularity: 4-side-buttable design for assembling large mosaics, such as 4096×4096 arrays.
- Compatibility: Fully compatible with TIS SIDECAR™ ASIC Focal Plane Electronics.
Performance Parameters:- Quantum Efficiency (QE): Varies by wavelength, with goals of ≥ 70% at 800 nm and 1,000 nm, and ≥ 80% at 1,230 nm and 1,500 nm.
- Dark Current: Median dark current is ≤ 0.05 e-/s, with a goal of ≤ 0.01 e-/s.
- Readout Noise: Median readout noise is ≤ 30 e- at 100 kHz pixel readout rate, with goals of ≤ 15 e-.
- Well Capacity: ≥ 80,000 e- at 0.25 V bias, with a goal of ≥ 100,000 e-.
- Crosstalk: ≤ 2%, with a goal of ≤ 1%.
- Operability: ≥ 95%, with a goal of ≥ 99%.
- Flatness and Planarity: SCA flatness ≤ 30 µm and planarity ≤ 50 µm, with goals of ≤ 10 µm and ≤ 25 µm respectively.
